Upcoming: Environmental Justice Communities Get $15 Billion in Federal Investment

Justice for Frontline Communities

The federal government announced the largest-ever investment in environmental justice — $15 billion targeted to communities that have borne the disproportionate burden of pollution, contamination, and environmental degradation for generations.

The funding will clean up Superfund sites, replace lead pipes in schools and homes, install air quality monitors in fence-line communities near industrial facilities, and support community-led environmental planning initiatives.

Where the Money Goes

  • $5 billion for Superfund site cleanup in or near low-income communities
  • $4 billion for lead pipe replacement in schools and homes
  • $3 billion for air quality improvement in communities near industrial facilities
  • $3 billion for community-led environmental planning and green infrastructure

This article is scheduled to publish in the future to demonstrate the scheduling feature.
